BEAUTY by Dominique James

Dominique James, the famous photographer conducted a seminar on photography last Saturday, May 27 at the Jorge Vargas Museum in UP Diliman. At the same time, he had an exhibit running entitled "BEAUTY" where he displayed portraits of the country's popular actresses who have such beautiful faces like Dina Bonnevie, Lorna Tolentino, Kristine Hermosa and a lot more. His works were really great (i photographed all them, haha!) but i think he is greater than his works --he has a HEART. And i guessed that made a big difference... The way he talked to people, the way he treated his staff, the manner he carried himself and shared with everybody there his knowledge about his craft was simply admirable! He is so unassuming, so kind. I liked his sense of humor, too ! I was really ecstatic to have met him in person. Mahal ko na po sya, hehe! BTW, below are some of his works...

Dominique James shared tips on Perfect Photographic compositions...(BTW, with me there were my classmates Kazumi and Kuya Bong.)

...this is Mr. Jun Miranda, the first Philippine-based Adobe instructor. He also has a column in Manila Bulletin (PICTURE PERFECT) every Wednesday. I think he is a very good speaker, we learned a lot from him...and like Sir Dominique, he is a very level-headed guy, "walang ere", he is so kind and accomodating esp to aspiring neophytes like me.

... a pose with my idol, Dominique James in flesh!

ALIWAN FESTIVAL (P-2)

Here are the other "remnants" of the ALIWAN tragedy! hehe! ;) (most of my exposures were disastrous!) Anyways, this one is a topshot of a girl (one of the participants), trying to cover her body/face from the scorching heat that afternoon...

ALIWAN FESTIVAL (P-1)

Last April 30, our photography class went to the Quirino Grandstand for the ALIWAN Festival -- an event participated by the diff. provinces of the country, displaying their unique cultures, costumes and dances. I was so excited when i saw the participants, they're so colorful! 'Really a W-O-W! But among them, it was the Pintados (men with painted bodies and faces, u can see it below) who caught my attention --basta, super aliw ako sa knila, i love them! (Maybe it's in d blood, haha!Lukso ng dugo?!! :) I roamed around the place taking pictures aiming to have at least 1 from each region (kahit super init nun, as in!), 'was so enjoyed I nearly lost track of my classmates...hehe! But the sad part was, i failed to see the muses and their colorful floats, (waah!) Nonetheless, i was still happy coz somehow i've been a part of that event. It was really an experience!
